I got home from my first day – I made it! Whew!!
Shortly after I got there; I was called into the board room to be welcomed to the team. There were about 10 employees there with the conference table piled with Bagels & Fruit. They buy breakfast to welcome a new team member so it was a pleasant surprise. They gave me photo albums to flip through so I could see how the company developed from day one & look at all their team building events.
After eating & getting to know each other – I had my first training session with Paul, (my superviser): learning the anatomy of the human eye & glaucoma. I went over the clinical documents and re-familiarized myself with the position. It was a real kick start to my brain cells!
At noon – I went for lunch with another CRA that lives in Texas that came out for the day to teach me the ropes of the type of filing system she’d like me to have. After lunch – we went to Staples and had a mini shopping spree to get all of the supplies I will need to make my job work. We went back to the office and organized all of the trial documents before we had to leave for the night.
Tomorrow I will be able to finish off the filing on my own and spend the rest of the day reading the QC binders for the rest of my training.
There is a “mandatory staff meeting” on Aug 25th that I got an email about that really threw me for a loop. The meeting maker went something like this:Date: Aug 25thTime: 8:30amWhere: meet in the boardroom
PS: dress for the beach as we’re taking a shuttle to Corona del Mar for a day of fun in the sun with your fellow coworkers!Needless to say – I am really excited to get my feet on the ground here. I feel very very fortunate to have been given this opportunity.
