Snakes & Miracles

OMG - Today we got in a wild Rattlesnake! I was so intrigued by it; as I have not seen one here in SoCal yet. We have it in a fishtank that is locked and padlocked to keep it contained in a trailer where our ISO cats are kept.

Later today - I had to go in there to drop off the clean laundry and I stopped to look at it from about 8' away. It noticed me and all of a sudden it's tail started to rattle. I got the BIGGEST heebie-geebies that I could feel a bloodcurdling scream building up. I had to almost run out of there - trying to keep my composure. WHAT A WOOSIE-PANTS I have become!!!

I was all of a sudden paranoid that I was going to come across a Rattlesnake at each turn I came across - it was so bizarre! Apparently the snakes will be coming up from the canyon soon - and they will be laying allover our property at work.

Today a lady called the shelter from New York. She is certain that one of the cats we have there is HERS that went missing in November in Mission Viejo. After trading emails of photos back an forth - Paddy is DEFINATELY her cat!! What an amazing life this cat has had - and he's ALIVE & WELL!

In 2002, she found him on the side of the road - as a kitten - curled up next to his dead brother. He was on death's door and she took him immediately to the vet for treatment. 7yrs later; her family had to move to New York; and the cat went missing. She would check our website every now and then - and today came across his picture! What an amazing feeling each of us had as we read her email as she came to the realization that Paddy was hers!

Her husband is in Nashville on business right now - so she's going to see if he can re-route to SoCal - come and get the cat then take him back to NY. AMAZING.
