Cola's Mystery and Life Challenges

Monday was my day off - so as you know I took Cali along with Judi to the Beach for her first trip! Here are a few photos of Judi's - Cali's a little goof.

Today I got the call from the Vet about Cola. She does not have Cushings Disease. She essentially is a mystery. We are going to try a few things - starting with:

1) Tomorrow morning; I will collect a free catch FIRST OF THE DAY urine sample and drop it off so they can check the specific gravity to see how dilute her urine REALLY is - to check kidney function. (she has EXTREMELY dilute urine and the first morning pee will be the most concentrated)

2) I will drop her off on Friday for Chest Xrays to ensure that there are no tumours preventing her from breathing properly. They will also collect a sterile urine sample via cystocentesis to grow a culture on it to rule out Pyelonephritis. (infection in her kidneys)

There could be a few things going on - she could have Atypical Cushings' Disease - which is very similar to Cushings' but not proven to actually be Cushings'. She could also have Diabetes Insipidus - which is a rare form of Diabetes that affects the 'anti-diuretic hormone'. There is a test for this called ADH. I won't know anything until next week - but hopefully we'll get some answers. Good or Bad - I just want to make her comfortable.

Gary's memorial was today. I really wish I could have gone - but it wasn't possible. It's a bit of a shock going from Salary to Hourly....downsides like this I suspect will happen often.

Tammys' little girl Hannah has a friend named Emily. She's 3.5yrs old and has just been diagnosed with LUNG CANCER. What is up with that?!?! She's just gone through her first bout of chemo - so we'll have to keep her in our thoughts and prayers. Check in on Tammys' blog to stay updated.
