Jeff and I got to our Cabin at about 7:45pm - it took us 3hrs to get there. It was BEAUTIFUL!!!
Big Bear reminds me of Whistler with a twist of Shuswap! We let the dogs off leash as soon as we got to our cabin - we were in total seclusion - we didn't see or hear anyone the whole time we were there!!
As we read the welcome packet; I came across a paragraph that kind of surprised me...
"If you think you are hearing the roar of a Lion - you are. Our neighbours have African Lions, Siberian Tigers, Grizzly and Black Bears - they train them for movies and you can check out their website at: www.predatorsinaction.com"
We heard this Lion daily - and LOVED the sound of the bellowing roar - it was soul shaking! I cannot imagine being in a Safari and hearing them in the wild!!
On Sunday before leaving - Jeff, the dogs and I took a walk past the compound - we saw the Tiger, (Gladiator), and 2 Grizzly Bears, (Brother Bear)...VERY COOL!!!
Anyway - On Friday - we took the dog on a hike - Cali and Cola were off leash the entire time - as good as gold - we had our little pack. Cali kept getting tired as it was completely uphill - so she'd stop and flop on her belly to catch a breather here and there.
After hiking - we went to the Lake and introduced Cali to swimming! What a hilarious experience that was!!! She followed Cola into the lake after a ball and SUNK - we almost got to her when she jumped up & out of the water like Jason out of the lake in that movie Sleepaway Camp...it was so funny that we both almost peed ourselves!!!
I didn't want to scar the puppy for life - so I carried her into the lake and put her down - eventually she got the hang of it...I would like to take her somewhere to swim again. I don't think there are any lakes around here - and the ocean is too rough for anyone.
We walked around town and found an AMAZING beach restaurant called "B's BBQ"; so we tied the dogs up to our chairs and had a bit of a feast.
Saturday - we rented a pontoon and the dogs had fun. Jeff got a new fishing rod and license - then we dropped anchor - had some lunch and he fished for about 15mins...
As we were heading back to shore - it started to pour rain! Perfect timing!!! We went back to "B's BBQ" 0rdered food to go and went back to the cabin for the night.
I really enjoyed this trip and can't wait for the next excursion at the end of October! I know that the dogs had a blast - and they're still sleeping it off!!
I had sent a couple of photos to some friends & family earlier today - I will repost this entry with photos at some point on Wednesday!
