I'm going to add to this posting during the day, as I get more info - but I just wanted to put a "before" picture that I took of my man lastnight. He was so cuddly - he knew something was up.
8:30am –
Jeff and I drove to the Clinic to drop off Sandy. Luckily we ran into Dr. Park and she reassured us that we were doing the right thing. I wish that she was able to remove the butterflies from my stomach!
Jeff's been sending me uplifting IM messages - telling me that he'll see if he can find a "patch" - and maybe we can consider changing his name to "Captain Jack" - cute!
Michele and her family have also been sending me texts with their reassurance and prayers! It's so nice to have you guys!
Thank you Tammy, Elena, Rhonda, my mom, Brianna and coworkers for your support as well! You all know how much this sucks for me to have to do!!
12:30pm -
I couldn't stand it anymore - so I called the Clinic. Their surgical schedule is typically from Noon - 3pm - I did not know that!! Sandy hasn't even been done yet. He has been sedated however. I wonder how they expect to send a somewhat sober animal home with a surgery so late in the day....
2:05pm -
They just called. Sandy's awake and recovering nicely! His eyeball was in horrible condition...they're going to save it for me to look at. The lens was free-floating within the orb - completely unsalvageable.
I am picking him up at 5:30pm - I am able to breathe freely now - but the butterflies are definately still there!!!
7:00pm -
Here's my new boy....he's doing GREAT!!!
...and IF you're faint hearted.....(DO NOT scroll down)
(yes, I took a photo of it)

I'm sending positive thoughts out for Sandy aka 'One Eyed Jack'...
Wishing Sandy a speedy recovery! Glad things went well... post some post-op pictures for us :)
I second the "speedy recovery"!!
Yes!! We wanna see "after" pictures too....patch or no patch he will be handsome no matter what! I'm so relived that the surgery went well and that he was already awake when they called you - BIG sigh of relief over here!! :)
hey christy, i have been keeping up with your blog and have been thinking about you and sandy. very happy everythings gone well! hope your butterflies go away soon. miss u.
I am so glad the surgery went well...I am also so relieved. Poor baby but he looks good Christy and I bet he will feel so much better..that had to be so uncomfortable for him. (You did the right thing). Give my boy a big kiss.
Mom
I gasped when I saw the eye!! I'm assuming that the vet threw it away and that you didn't take it home.
Sandy is still handsome - it looks like he's winking now!
On a side note...about a week and half ago, I saw a three legged dog....just wagging it's tailing, happily walking along with its owner.
He looks as handsome as ever Christy!! WOW - that is huge! I'll bet he is so happy to have that pressure taken off of his socket :) Can't wait to snuggle him soon - the kids were THRILLED he was ok!!!
xoxo!!
Christy...
Look at all your blog comments! You (& Sandy) must feel so popular :)
That picture of the eye is so disgusting... I know you only posted that to try and make my stomach turn!
Well I'm glad that Sandy is feeling waaaaaaay better now!!
Hey there, I am glad to hear Sandy is doing well. My heart dropped a few beats when I saw the eye. The poor thing!! :( I hope you are doing well with his recovery. My thoughts are with you and Sandy.
