Mystery Solved!!!
We've lived in our condo for exactly 2years now, (Happy Anniversary, Honey!), and once a year - for about a week or two there another couple moves into the trees outside my bedroom window and perform a ritual that drives me insane!!!
They are Robin-sized, yellow birds that resemble Kingfishers. Their call, is what I first thought was "a pretty song" - but now it's the most "annoying noise"! When they come for their visit, they'll whistle and go crazy from about midnight - 4am every single day for the duration of their time here.
As I walked to the mailbox today at work; I heard that for the first time in about a year. I looked around, and there were about 8 of them fighting, playing - mating? My first thought was: "Great - those f*#^ing birds are back!!"
I got a good look and came home to Google. After about 20mins, I found them to be known as "The Great Kiskadee"!!!

When I read the first paragraph, I thought you were talking about a human couple!! And when you said that they perform a ritual....omg, I can't tell you what I thought!!
This cracks me up....the old owners used to complain about these guys all the time!! I'll bet Gibson would want him as a snack!! :)
