I am really looking forward to leaving home tomorrow and driving home to Vancouver for the holidays! I have just MapQuested our trip and there's the layout.
We are planning on leaving my work at noon tomorrow and driving as far north as Redding, CA, (on the map - it's North of Sacramento). I guess that's kind of the half-way mark! Jeff's mom is spending the holidays at her friends' house and that where they'll be. We'll have a place to stay!
Estimate: 1,293 Miles = 2,080 Kilometres
I have a website that I've been keeping tabs on - it's pretty handy! There are webcams allover the I-5 and you click on the "cam icons" to see the road conditions...
We have chains, and tonight we're packing everything up in my truck. I've got all my gifts wrapped now. Also tonight; Jeff and I are celebrating Christmas! I have all his gifts on our couch - he's going to be spoiled this year from me!
Here's our trip schedule:
- Noon - Friday, Dec 21, leave OC and drive to Redding, CA: ~12hrs
- 9:00am - Saturday, Dec 22nd: Leave Redding, CA and drive ~10hrs to Surrey, BC, CANADA - ETA 9pm.
- Noon - Sunday, Dec 23rd: Go to Tammy's house for a visit and family portraits.
- 3pm - Sunday, Dec 23rd: Go to my Dad's for Dinner and sleepover.
- Monday, Dec 24th: Stop off at Rhonda's on the way home from my Dads' for a visit and family portraits. Also stop off at Pamela's if they're available, before heading to my mom's.
- Tuesday, Dec 25th: Christmas Day Celebration!!!
- Wednesday, Dec 26th: Boxing Day Celebration - Jeff's FIRST Boxing Day!!
- Thursday, Dec 27th: Down time - visiting family.
- Friday, Dec 28th: Down time - visiting family; then 4:30pm get together at Pamela's.
- Saturday, Dec 29th: Leave Surrey for the long drive back home to SoCal - spend the night in Medford, OR, (south of Grants' Pass), near Jeff's Aunt and Uncle's house.
- Sunday, Dec 30th: Stop off at my colleagues new house south of Medford & drive home. There's a chance that we might spend the night in Sacramento at Paul & Robyn's, (my tattoo-buddy!)
- Monday, Dec 31st: Drive home - if we're not home already!

I am going to be keeping track of this trip. I've got my camcorder charging, camera all set and notebook out and ready!
I've got to start making my list so that I can get myself and Cola all packed! I might not write tomorrow as I'll only be at work until about 11:00am or noon, (depends on when the boss decides to boot us out).

Wow! That is a lot longer trek than I had in my head. You are going up the entire country! Holy moly! Have fun on your drive and take lots of pictures. If you see a road sign for an AMAZING Ball of Twine, or The World's Largest Prarie Dog -- you should really stop and photodocument!
