Orange County - Redding, CA (9.5 hours)

Today we left Orange County for the LONG drive north. It started off with Jeff calling me from the Bank - 5mins away from home on his way to pick me up from work - saying that Cola had vomited allover the front centre console! GREAT!!!

We opened presents lastnight and Cola got a Smokey Bone - she chewed on it for about an hour before bed. What a nice present she GAVE us!!!

Jeff got to my work, and Cola got to meet Linda and Steve - while Jeff tried to clean the truck as best as he could.

By 12:45pm, we were on a roll! I started my Odometer at 0.0, wrote in my trip journal, and we played some tunes on the iPod. We got on the 405, and drove towards Long Beach, where we got off the highway and met Jim - who gave us some chains that he had bought and never used for his own car last year.

We made it past Hollywood and Van Nuys by 2pm. Then we entered Bakersfield by 4:44pm - by this point our Odometer was at 220.4miles. There are so many beef slaughterhouses in a city called Coalinga - and it smelled so bad for about 10mins of the drive past that part. Seriously - you see beef cows and dairy cows as far as your eyes can see.

We made it to Redding, CA at 10:15pm, and our Odometer was at 592.7miles. What a night!!!

Pam's house is amazingly beautiful. We woke up the next morning, Saturday), and she lives on a lake that is home to Swans, Geese, and an Otter, (which we did not see). The city of Redding is just so beautiful - I think that we'll have to spend more time in that city!! We left her house by 8:00am, to start our long day of driving.
