Glad to be home - somewhat...

We are finally home from what may have been the longest travel day yet.
We were able to get some shopping done yesterday morning, before we left for the Airport - but started our travel day @ 11:00am, EST, (8am PST).

There is a Wendy's in the Dom Rep Airport!!! The line up was about 20ppl long, but we needed a good hearty meal that brought us familiarity!

They started to load us onto the tarmac - by foot - where we stayed for about an hour...in the humidity that was making us all grumpy - especially with the little mariachi-type band sitting 2' away from us. After an hour - they called us all back inside to explain that the AC in the plane was not working and that they were trying to fix it as it was about 90'F inside of it. YUCK!

Eventually we got on our 4hr flight to JFK, where we had to make a dash for it if we were going to have any chance to make our 7pm flight to LAX! We landed in JFK at 6:45pm - had to run through to immigration - wait in line....run through to luggage claim - wait for our luggage to come down...run to American Airlines - to check BACK in..., (the time at this point was 7:15pm) - and we were told that the flight was delayed until 7:40pm!! We were told to RUN if we had any chance at all; as the doors had already been closed to the plane, and it would be up to the 'gate keepers'. There were 9 of us in total - Jeff and myself, another honeymooner couple, and a family with 3 young kids.

We got to the gate and had to plead with them to let us all in - at this point it was every man for themselves - they unlocked the door and we ran down to the plane. When we got on - people were giving us dirty looks and just really rude in general, (I am certain that Al Pacino was in First Class) - at least we were on the plane!!!

We landed in LAX at 10:45'ish, and went to our baggage claim. I noticed that the actress, Elizabeth Berkley, from Showgirls/Saved By The Bell was there with us as well. I could sit in baggage all night just to star-gaze! I can't remember if I already wrote this, but Sara Ramirez was on our flight from LAX to JFK on our way out - she's Dr. Callie Torres from Grey's Anatomy.

- OK - back on track. We got my suitcase - but Jeff's never came. Actually - everone in the group of 9 from Dom Rep had one piece of luggage missing. We all submitted a claim after searching for an hour or so...UGH!!

Drove home - saw our babies that were just SO happy to see us - then passed out!!! It was 1:30am PST, (4:30am EST) = 20 hours of mayhem.

Photos to be posted sometime today...I'm going to post some on here, and also email some in my online album - be warned - there are almost 300!! ha ha!
