Update on the SoCal fires

WOW - this is completely out of control!

On my drive home from work lastnight, I drove up to the toll road in Foothill Ranch and saw flames on the hills! It put a lump in my throat that is still there. This photo is from the toll road - not mine - but this is the drive I took home yesterday from work.

I pulled out my camera to take some shots - but driving at the same time was too dangerous...so I switched to my camcorder and actually got better footage. I doubt that I will ever be able to post it, as my computer is not accepting my video - but I will be trying.

Jeff's friend Brady was evacuated, we can't get a hold of him for an update - Rick has extended family from Canada that live in San Diego and one home is for sure gone, some of the people that Jeff work with have been evacuated and one of the people that I work with has a house right up in Lake Arrowhead believed to be gone.

I am getting email updates every hour - or every incident - to inform me of road closures and happenings. All of the buses have shut down over here, and even the I-5 was closed earlier as the fire was jumping over by Camp Pendleton, (see photo below). The brunt of it right now is going South of Foothill Ranch.

The air quality is so bad right now - it is like a campfire x 20. Breathing is difficult - we go outside and get an instant headache. All of our clothes and hair smells so badly - but we are thankful to have clothing and hope that this is all we will have to worry about!

All of the illegal immigrants that work the fields in & around San Diego are scared that they're going to be turned into the Police, so they are running into the mountains. The police came on and said that they will be safe with them - they are halting all Immigration Issues - they do not want deaths!

The stadium down in SD is accepting pets, so that families can bring them there - the Red Cross is NOT accepting pets. They want people to make their own plans. People are turning them loose, so there are various animals running allover requiring capture! Horses, Llamas and dogs/cats! People on the news lastnight were talking about their pets that had died, and it was so sad.

My mom took a picture when she flew home on Monday...this is in Malibu Canyon - much farther north than us:

Barb - what a great shot!! So sad that you are already gone :(

Christy your blog is always so informative and you found and took some great photos that really show what's going on down here. I did see your video last night and let me just say she's got TALENT! She was filming, narrating AND driving....amazing!!! :)
