My First "Vacation Day"

Today, I took a Vacation Day with Jeff and 2 of his friends. It was so nice to have it! OMGosh - Jeff and I really need a holiday!! We haven't had a holiday since July 2005! I can't wait to be able to take a trip together - somewhere just the two of us to some exotic location.

We slept in til 9:00am, and got ready to spend a day at del Mar! We met up with Jason and Darren at the train station down the street from us in San Juan Capistrano - then we took the train to del Mar. Jeff told me that he was not going to check his blackberry AT ALL today! I was so excited for him to just kick back and relax - because he also told his office that he was going to be out of reach today.

(it became apparent, that he was full of it, so every time I saw him on it, I would snap his picture and threaten to post it on my blog!)

Anyway - we had a lot of fun, it was nice to hang out with his friends a little bit. They each have wives and 2 kids each - but they just came the two of them today. Jeff and I betted a little bit, but just made enough money to pay for the tickets down there, and lunch - so we came out even. J and Darren came out a little better, but they were betting more $$$ than we were.

There are a couple of pictures of me in the cowboy hat that I bought yesterday at the Rodeo. I decided to go a little country today as well.

Newsflash:

A hot air balloon crashed over the weekend very close to my mom's house, (about 10mins driving distance). It's been all over the news down here, and it's very sad as it caught fire while up in the air, and as people jumped out from 25' up, it got lighter and lighter - higher and higher...a mom and her daughter were burned to death in the basket...eventually it fell to the ground, and the propane tanks went flying into mobile homes, and 3 of them went up in flames. So many peoples lives were suddenly changed!!

Gary had his sugery today! Michele went to the hospital tonight to spend time with his wife Lisa and to give her support. He had been diagnosed with bladder cancer 2 weeks ago, and today had his bladder, prostate and all lymph nodes removed. They also reconstructed his bladder with some intestine. I took some pictures of the moon again - as it turns out - Mars didn't do it's thing lastnight - apparently that email was a few years old! :-) Oh well - I was up anyway. I just love my new flash that I bought, and I've been working on technique every night, so why not practice on the moon as well!?
