Big Bear Report

Well - camping in Big Bear was a great barrel of laughs!!! Jeff and I left the house on Friday at about 5pm, and got there at about 8:30'ish. It was so beautiful and reminded me of Whistler!!!

We got to the site and set up - Uncle Doug mixed us some drinks. It was so nice to see everyone - Aunt Marilyn, Gerry and Sheba! A Black Bear had taken a walk through the campsite earlier that night - before we got there, and Cola was a little unsettled. We talked and drank...ended up in bed at about 3am!!!

Saturday - we all got up, (hungover), had an awesome breakfast and Jeff and I took Cola for a walk on the Summit ski hill. There were a lot of squirrels and lizards, but we didn't see any bears. After the walk, we all decided to drive down to the lake with the dogs. We sat there for a bit in the hot sun - Uncle Doug, Cola & Sheba went swimming. We wanted to rent a boat, but they were all booked up unfortunately.

Big Bear is such a "dog-friendly" city!!! They let them into the restaurants, and can go anywhere on the beaches! I was so happy about that!!! (So was Cola).

We had an awesome dinner of ribs and rice - DELICOUS!!! Drank a little more...Uncle Doug made a coffee drink called "Chicken Soup"....I had a sip - it was SSMMMMOOOOTTTHHHHHE.
Two Marines ended up coming to sit with us at our site for the night....they were from the next site over, and their friends had all gone to bed. They shared some stories from Iraq - they had just come home 2 weeks prior.

I went to bed early that night with Cola - she was so tired, and I wasn't interested in feeling hung over on Sunday. Jeff eventually made it to bed as well. There were coyotes yipping all night and it was just so peaceful to listen to them.

Today - we woke up - went to Breakfast at a German restaurant, then packed up - said our goodbyes, and Jeff and I left at about 1pm.

What an awesome trip!!
I took Jeff to dinner in Newport Beach - we went to a Seafood restaurant called the Rusty Pelican, where I ordered Alaskan King Crab...MMMMMMM.

It's our 15month Anniversary today.
